Are you aware of your obligations as a landlord?

When it comes to electrical safety there are three main tips you should know in regards to your rental property.

Smoke Alarms

Have you converted to interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms?

From 1 January 2022, legislation states that all Queensland dwellings will be required to have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms in all bedrooms, in hallways that connect bedrooms with the rest of the dwelling and on every level where applicable.

There is also a responsibility as a landlord to test and have these cleaned before the start of a new tenancy or a tenancy renewal. These alarms should also be replaced as indicated on their warranty.

If you have a rental property needing smoke alarm installation, cleaned, tested and or replaced, call a professional electrician from NB Trades & Services.

Safety Switches

Have you installed safety switches on all circuits for your property?

As safety switches protect lives and at the very least an electric shock - they are paramount in protecting anyone visiting or living in the property.

One safety switch may not be enough. Have our licenced electricians at NB Trades & Services visit your property to check and install more if necessary.

Electrical Safety

Have you taken appropriate measures to ensure there is electrical safety on your rental?

There is a responsibility as a landlord to ensure all appliances are in good, safe working order before the start of a new tenancy or a tenancy renewal. Appliances and wiring should be checked and faulty appliances replaced.

It is vital all electrical work is performed by licensed electricians - that’s where we come in. We are here to help if you need any electrical work carried out for your property.
